Fern Cox Anderson
1903 ~ 1990 Fern Cox Anderson, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away July 31, 1990, in a local hospital. Born October 15, 1903, Bunkerville, Nevada, the daughter of Edward Isaiah and Mary Emily Bunker Cox. Married Nephi L. Anderson, February 15, 1941, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death July 8, 1983. Fern was a charter member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She taught school in the Salt Lake City School District for 38 years, never missing a day of school. She was a member of the East Mill Creek Camp of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and was an active member of the LDS Church, holding many church positions over the years. Fern gave freely of her love to all that knew her and was dearly loved in return. Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Ruth (and Gary M.) Barnett, Salt Lake City; two sons, Robert N. (and Darla) Anderson, San Diego, California; and David C. Anderson, Salt Lake City; nine grandchildren, Brian, Tara, Cathryn, Benjamin, David, Jonathan, Melissa, Monica and Meredith; one great-grandchild, Evan; a brother, Emlyn (and Ethyl) Cox, Walnut Creek, California; and a sister, Mary (and Everett) Gurnsey, Portland, Oregon. Preceded in death by three brothers, Kenyon, Bunker and David; and a sister, Rose. Funeral services will be Friday, August 3rd, 12 noon, at the Valley View Seventh Ward, 2245 East 3900 So., with Bishop Arnold Wagner officiating. Friends may call at the church for one hour prior to the services. Interment: Salt Lake City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: the Holbrook Funeral Chapel. |
