Vilate Griener 1911 ~ 2000 CEDAR CITY, Utah~Vilate Taylor Griener passed away on January 10, 2000 in Payson, UT of natural causes at the age of 88. She was surrounded by her loved ones as she departed this earthly life. Vilate was born June 28, 1911 in Delta, Utah to Loren I. Taylor and Eliza Jane Bunker Taylor. She married Cecil G. Griener on April 19, 1937 in Alturus, CA. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.Vilate was an active member of the LDS Church where she served diligently in numerous callings. Her kind nature was a gift to all who made her acquaintance. Many lives have been touched just by knowing her. She is survived by three children, Kenneth C. Griener (wife Sharon) and Mrs. Ivan Shurtz (Klea) both of St. George; Mrs. Joseph A. Worthen (Deanna) of Payson; ten grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a choice young friend, Natalie Spencer. She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil; brothers Ren, Bert, Riley, Grant, Lloyd, and Floyd Taylor; an infant sister, Alice Jean; two half brothers, Rulon Taylor and Alton Holt; and a great-grandson Nicholas Hawkes. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 15, 2000 at 11 a.m. in the Southern Utah Mortuary located at 190 North 300 West in Cedar City, UT. A viewing will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the mortuary prior to the services. Interment will be at Cedar City Cemetery immediately following the funeral services, under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
