S. BERTELL BUNKER
March 28, 1909 to February 24, 1987

S. Bertell Bunker, age 77, died February 24, 1987 peacefully at home in Salt Lake 
City, Utah from natural causes. Born March 28, 1909, Colonia Morelos, Mexico to 
George S.and Isabelle McArthur Bunker. Married Wilma Boyle June 30, 1932, Salt Lake 
LDS Temple. Active member of the LDS Church, serving in many leadership positions, 
including bishop of the Highland Ward in Ogden. High Priest in the Parleys First 
Ward at the time of this passing. Graudate of BYU and University of Oregon. Was one 
of the early leaders in the accounting profession in Utah; was a founding partner 
of the CPA firm of Bunker, Tanner & Garrett, and later formed the firm of Bunker & 
Bunker with his sons, all of whom are CPAs. Served as president of the Utah 
Association of CPAs 1947-48. During the 60s and early 70s he served as Budget 
Director, State of Utah; Associate Director of Finance for the Utah Coordinating 
Council of Higher education; and Associate Commissioner for Business Affairs, Utah 
System of Higher Education. Was the recipient of several professional and civic 
awards and recognitions, among which were the Award of Merit from the BYU Alumni 
Association and the Distinguished Service Award from the State Board of Higher Ed-
ucation. He was respected and loved by his many friends and family and was fre-
quently sought for counsel - both in his profession and in his church callings. 
Survived by his wife Wilma; three sons, Richard B. Bunker, Alan W. Bunker and 
David E. Bunker, all of Salt Lake City; 14 grandchildren and 5 greatgrandchildren; 
brother, Antoine L. Bunker, Orem, Utah. Preceded in death by two brothers, two 
sisters, a granddaughter and a grandson. Funeral services, Friday, February 27, 12 
noon at Parleys First Ward, 2350 South 21st East. Friends may call at Larkin 
Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Thursday 6-8 p.m., and also Friday from 10:45 
until 11:45 a.m. prior to the services a the ward. Burial Holladay Memorial Park.
